A flexible and efficient HV energy distribution system in a Chemical plant

Deccan fine chemical at Tuni Andhra Pradesh was coming up with a new facility consisting of multiple blocks which would be setup in phases and having total energy handling capability of 70MW.The client has its own Turbine generator and the deficient was being supplied by electricity board .The client wants to use both the available power sources for different loads in a smooth and efficient manner.

Now there are ways to achieve this

Conventional approach:-Provide a regular HT panel with two sources .One from EB and other from TG. Put a bus coupler and provide the feeders on one bus and duplicate them on other bus

However, for a plant such huge and having 70MW to handle we proposed a superior design in terms of ease, cost optimization and smooth operation .

We proposed to have double bus bar system HT panel .These panels are OEM based HT panels which has two individual busbars one for EB power and one for TG supply. Each outgoing has a twin breaker one from EB bus and other from TG bus with interlock in between .

Advantages-

  1. Facility for the user to share the load as per operation on TG or EB
  2. Selectivity for the user to achieve the synchronization at individual outgoing feeder level or at the main bus levels
  3. Being a type tested design the space utilization is less as compared to conventional approach
  4. Significant reduction in cost is achieved as duplication of HT cables feeding the load is eliminated
